Wellington Ward Reunion

Our reunion at the Olive Garden on April 28th was a special time and we had a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!

We arrived early to make sure everything had been arranged and the members all arrived between 6:15 and 6:50pm.

We had 24 guests at our table. Sadly, Jorge was out of the country and Lene had to fly to New York to visit a sick aunt.

Here's Tana during introductions. I didn't know she would be here so it was a pleasant surprise. I used to Home Teach her family when they were in the Wellington Ward. Like they say....."she's all growed up!"

Here is Cindy during introductions. When Cindy arrived, Ryan Hoggan told his wife, Cristine, about Sister Jump's legendary cinnamon rolls!

Surf City USA.

Surf City USA,

Huntington Beach, California is known as "Surf City" and is the home of the International Surfing Museum. The museum is currently featuring a Jan & Dean exhibit complete with a juke box from the 60's playing all of Jan & Dean's hits including: "Surf City", "Honolulu Lulu", "Drag City", "Deadman's Curve", Little Old Lady From Pasadena", "Ride The Wild Surf", "Sidewalk Surfin", and many more.


Walking through the museum brought back a lot of memories. We ate dinner at Ruby's, located at the end of the Pier (see top picture) and watched seals playing in the water. Closer to shore we watched the surfers braving the 54 degree water in their wet suits.

We received these bears from Kendra and Jeff on Easter. We were not allowed to tell anyone until now! The daddy-to be and the mommy-to-be are doing well!

I don't know which is scarier, someone as YOUNG as me being a Grandpa; or the due date being October 30th ...MISCHIEF NIGHT!

In 1970, Dodge introduced the Challenger! It was one of two "Pony Cars" that were Chrysler Corporations answer to the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, and the Pontiac Trans Am. It had a short run, however, due to federal emission standards beginning in 1971 and the Arab fuel embargo soon after. The last year for the Challenger was 1974. Pictured below is the 1970 Challenger I owned around 1971 or 1972. It was a 383 RT SE in it's original color, "Plum Crazy".


The Challenger became one of the most sought after collector cars of all time. A rare 1970 Hemi Challenger convertible could sell for nearly $1,000,000 dollars. When Ford reintroduced the Thunderbird, several years ago, General Motors and Chrysler watched. The T-Bird was a flop and Ford lost money on it. Ford tried again, a couple of years ago, by reintroducing the Mustang in a late 60's retro design. It was a success! General Motors then decided to reintroduce the Camaro and Dodge the Challenger, both in retro design format. The Chrysler/Dodge designers placed a 1970 Challenger in their studio and went to the drawing boards.

They initially produced 2 Challenger Concept Cars. A standard model with a 425 horsepower, 6.1 SRT Hemi V-8; and a Pro-Stock version using a stock 392 Hemi crate engine, right out of their catalog. The Pro-Stock version has 550 horsepower and runs the 1/4 mile in just over 11 seconds. As the Challengers toured the car show circuit in 2006 and 2007, the response was phenomenal!!


Scheduled for release in Spring of 2008, the Challengers are making their way to dealerships across America. First year production vechicles will all have the Hemi SRT V-8 and only 6,400 will be produced for 2008. Advance orders began quite a while ago and on the first day that Dodge began taking orders, 4,300 had already been sold. Dealerships additionally requested an additional 10,000 units for their showrooms. Most of those will have to wait until the 2009 production year when a V-6 model will also be available. The sticker price is $37,995.00 for the 2008 Dodge Challenger. In 1970, a Hemi Challenger was around $3,700.00.


The first 2008 Challenger, off the assembly line, was put up for a charity auction and was sold to the CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Company for $400,000.00

Keith began his FULL-TIME university studies at BYU this Winter Semester. His major is still Business, but with an emphasis on Organizational Behavior. This blends in so very well with his current job at Target, in the Human Resource office, where he hires, trains, or fires (if necessary). He's enjoyed working his way up to his present job there. Keith has reached the highest he can get at Target without a Bachelor's Degree. And it's interesting to see how his life path got him into that position, and then helped him to decide where his talents and interests lie within the business world: human resources.
