Temples are very sacred places to us, so they are "private" to a certain extent. Those who are not members of the Church are welcomed to quietly walk through new (or newly-renovated) Temples before they are dedicated to the Lord and closed to the general public. South Florida in third driest season on record

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Officials say the 2008-2009 dry season in South Florida is the third driest on record dating back to 1932. The South Florida Water Management District says the forecast calls for even more dry weather across its 16-county region from Orlando to the Florida Keys. The agency says the region saw an average of just .41 inches of rain in February, nearly two inches less than normal for the month. Rainfall overall is down 6.65 inches to date.
Officials say much of South Florida is already experiencing moderate drought conditions. The Atlantic Coast, from around Martin County to Miami-Dade County, is considered to be in a severe drought. Dry conditions are expected to continue or intensify through May.
The district is emphasizing water conservation.

Apple Enchilada Dessert

APPLE ENCHILADAS

"Apples rolled in flour tortillas. VERY delicious, easy and fast to make. Substitute apples with peaches or cherries if desired."

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 6

INGREDIENTS:
1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
6 (8 inch) flour tortillas
1 Teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/3 cup Butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup water

1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2) Spoon fruit evenly onto all tortillas, sprinkle with cinnamon. Roll up tortillas and place seam side down on a lightly greased 8 X 8 baking pan.

3) Bring butter, sugars and water to a boil in a medium sauce pan. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring constantly for 3 minutes.

4) Pour sauce evenly over tortillas; sprinkle with extra cinnamon on top if desired. Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes.

5) Makes 6 large tortillas; may be cut in half to serve 12.

Where Were You In 62?
Well, I can't remember too much from 1962 since I was only in grade school
but the late 60's are a different story! This picture in today's Palm Beach Post brought
back a flood of memories. I had totally forgotten about the Amaryllis. I was in High
School then and remember walking down the beach and touching it's hull.

The Amaryllis, a 441 foot freighter pushed ashore by Hurricane Betsy on September 8, 1965. Eventually it became a hazard, so on August 22, 1968 it was towed out to become an artificial reef.

I also wanted to put these pictures on our blog just to bug Katie! You see, Katie considers surfing in Florida to be a joke. Yes, I agree that California and Hawaii have larger waves usually, but we have pretty beaches with WARM water! "

Surf City" may be in California but we also have a part of surfing history from our numerous beaches to our Ron Jon Surf Shops!

Enjoy a little bit of history from the "Dark Ages" from back when I was a teenager in Palm Beach
County.

p.s. The ship was also in the background during the filming of the show "Treasure Island" at the Colonnades Beach Hotel.
